LET US PRAY
Praise and Glory
To the One whose goodness is without equal,
Whose love is beyond comparison,
Whose mercy is beyond understanding,
And whose power is beyond words,
Be praise and glory,
Worship and thanksgiving,
Now and Always,
Amen
FIRST COMMUNION THANKS
We are truly grateful for all of the support we received this year. I am especially grateful to Miss Resendes, our wonderful Grade Two teacher, to the PPC who did such a wonderful job of setting up and organizing the reception, and to Mrs. Reyno who spent many hours preparing certificates, programs, etc. Without your help, these very special occasions just wouldn't come together, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
SCHOOL UNIFORM NEWS
At last month's PEC meeting, changes were made to our uniform policy. The changes will take place as of September 2008. Please read the following information carefully:
· Green knee highs or green tights for girls - no white.
· School ties for all students - choice of clip-ons or regular ties
· White dress shirts with school name on pocket (no extra charge).
Our goal is to establish one uniform in which our students can take pride.
*We are considering adding optional sweat pants to our uniform list - several parents are concerned about the children being in shorts for P.E., especially in winter. I'll update this information next week.
WALKATHON VERY IMPORTANT!!!
This year, we added the t-shirt size chart to our pledge sheet so that we could record sizes as the forms came in. At this point, we only have orders for fifty t-shirts. That means that unless we get the yellow forms and the money in by tomorrow, many students will be disappointed. Please make a point of helping your child meet this deadline.
I have attached a form requesting the names of those parents who will be having lunch with us on the day of the walkathon. Please make sure that you return this form ASAP so that we can provide you with a lunch ticket. The PPC need to know how many lunches to prepare, so no ticket, no lunch!
CROWNING OF MARY
Next Tuesday, May 13th we will have our Crowning of Mary ceremony in the primary playground at 9:15 am. Parents are most welcome to attend. As always, the children are invited to bring flowers.
PREPARING FOR KINDERGARTEN
We are still waiting for parents to call and register their young children (3 and 4 year olds) for this very special session that will take place in the school library on May 23rd from 10:30 to 11:30 am. This includes children who will be coming into our kindergarten class in September.
Kindergarten parents, please note that this is different from the kindergarten screening session.
INTERNET SAFETY MEETING
Tomorrow I'll send home the registration forms for this important meeting. If your child spends time on the computer, particularly on sites as MSN messenger, Face Book, etc., you do not want to miss this very informative meeting. You need to be informed about how to monitor your child's use of the computer and about the potential dangers of some web sites. Althoug all parents are most welcome to attend, it is particularly urgent that those of you whose children are regular Internet users make the effort to come to the meeting.
UPCOMING PRO D DAY
Our next Pro D day will be Tuesday, May 20th. There will be no classes for children that day.
ST. ANDREW'S IDOL!
What an amazing evening this was! The children who performed were just incredible. The audience could not believe how much talent they saw. We were all very, very proud of the children. The Student Council would like to thank everyone who helped to make the event a success. I would personally like to thank the staff of St. Andrew's and our faithful PPC.
Special thanks to our judges, Miss Tupchong, Miss Resendes, and Mr. Kuehn (Amayah and Xavier's Dad). They had a very tough assignment and did a wonderful job. Bravo!
All funds raised will be sent to Sierra Leone, Africa to provide school supplies for needy children. At St. Andrew's, we are proud that we also support children in the Philippines through the Christian Child Care International Program.
*As soon as we've calculated the grand total of funds raised for SAS Idol, we'll let you know.
