LET US PRAY

In this month dediatd to Our Blessed Mother, let us pray the Memorare:

Remember Oh most blessed Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee. Oh Virgin of Virgins my Mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. Oh Mother of the Word INcarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me.

Amen.

SAS IDOL WINNERS

Last week we had our first ever SAS Idol competition. The following students were the winners in the various categories.

Primary Singing: Blessy Rivera, Gr. 3
Primary Dance: Kyanna Sarmiento, Gr. 2
Intermediate Singing: Maria Monay, Gr. 4
Intermediate Dance: Mariah Alabazo, Gr. 4

Congratulations to all of these talented performers and to all students who participated in this special event. Each winner received a specially designed SAS Idol trophy.

The total amount of funds raised, including ticket sales, concession and 50/50 draw, was almost $1800.00.

NEAT UNIFORM REMINDER

Parents, please note that this is discount week at Neat Uniforms. If you purchase uniform items next week, you will receive 10% off your order.

*We've heard lots of positive comments from parents and students about our new school tie. I think our children will look very smart and I'm hopeful that this will encourage them to take pride in their appearance.

WALKATHON - LAST MINUTE INFORMATION

Tomorrow is our annual walkathon and the weather forecast is fantastic! Many of you will have received a special letter along with this newsletter asking for your help with the checkpoint stations along the walkathon route. If you received one of these letters, I ask that you read the information very carefully. Thanks to those parents who let us know that they will be joining us for lunch.

Parents, please note that all students will be dismissed from the school after the walkathon. This is the only way we can be sure that we have accounted for all students and that they have been safely dismissed.

* Students who had their walkathon forms in by the deadline were given their t-shirts yesterday. Today we distributed t-shirts to students who missed the deadline but raised $40 or more.

CROWNING OF MARY

Thanks to all of the parents who sent beautiful flowers for our Crowning of Mary ceremony on Tuesday. Those of you who have been in the school this week would have noticed the lovely altar in the main foyer.

INTERNET SAFETY MEETING - IMPORTANT!

Earlier this week, we sent home a letter inviting parents to the Internet Safety meeting planned for next Wednesday evening. So far, I've received about thirty registrations. Please send your registration back if you plan to attend. If your child uses the Internet, even once in a while, this meeting is not to be missed. The only way we can protect children from danger when they're on-line is if we are informed. I'm hoping that many more parents will send in their registrations by tomorrow.

UPCOMING PRO D DAY

Second reminder - Our next Pro D day will be Tuesday, May 20th. There will be no classes for children that day. Please note that this Pro D day is the day after the Victoria Day holiday.

EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION

Many of our Grade 2 families will be attending the Eucharistic procession in Abbotsford this coming Sunday. Some other families may have purchased tickets through the parish. If you are planning to attend and have purchased bus tickets, please make sure that you are on the bus by 12:15. The bus will leave at 12:30 sharp, so it's very important to be on time. Parents who have chosen to drive, please allow at least two hours to get to Rotary Park. It will probably take some time to get parked, and you won't want to arrive late. As far as I can gather, the First Communicants will be seated in a reserved area. Each child will receive a special certificate.

PRO D DATE CHANGE

We had originially scheduled our final Pro D day for June 16th, but we've had to bring it forward one week to June 9th. Please make this change on your calendar.

FOOD BANK - HELP!

Parents, I desperately need your help to keep our CAN DO project running. We have several students who faithfully bring contributions every week, sometimes a few items at once., but far too many students just forget. Could you help? When you go shopping, would you please allow your child to choose a food bank item? If you make it part of your shopping routine, it will become a habit for the children. We've already setn several loads to the SVDP shop on Main Street, and I want them to know they can count on us. I know I can depend on you to make this work. Thank you so much.

Have a wonderful long weekend, and if you'r travelling with your family, come back safely.

With much love,

Mrs. Mailley
