LET US PRAY
In this holy Easter season, we pray:
Gracious God,
teach us to thank you for the past,
to trust you for the future,
to serve you in the present,
celebrating every day you give us with glad and joyful praise.
May we always remember that we are part of your Holy Family and
that you love us beyond measure.
WEEKDAY MASS
I would like to thank all of those parents who encourage and support their children with our weekday Mass schedule. It is wonderful to see so many of our students attend Mass with their teacher on their special day. Bravo, parents!
PEC ELECTIONS
It is now time for us to prepare for the election and or appointment of new PEC members. Next week Monday, I will send home detailed information so that you are aware of what this very important job involves. For brand new members, a training session is offered in June. At this season, you can learn about the roles and responsibilities in the PEC. Please take the time to think and pray about this. We need people with discretion and integrity who want the very best for St. Andrew's. If that describes you, you may be who we're looking for!
SPEECH ARTS - PURE GOLD!
What a terrific outcome from this year's Speech Arts Festival! All of our class entries brought home gold, as did nearly all of our individual student entries. We are so proud of all of them, and congratulate them and their teachers on all their hard work and dedication. Well done all of you!
LITERACY WORKSHOP
We now have final numbers for this very exciting workshop. Parents who have registered will receive a letter next week confirming their registration and providing details of agenda. This is our first ever parents' literacy evening, so those of you who registered are making history!
RAFFLE TICKETS
Earlier this week we sent home a reminder letter about raffle ticket books that haven't been returned. Since then, we have received quite a few books, but are still waiting for several more. Please help us out by attending to this right away. We are accountable for every book that was sent home, so if you lost your book, you need to send us $10.
ST. ANDREW'S IDOL!
Tickets are now ready for this special event. The Student Council has planned rehearsal times for the end of this month. All of these children have worked very hard to prepare for this, so please support them and the performers by attending the show on May 7th. A list of students who will be performing will be posted on the main bulletin board.
SHOP FUNDS
As we draw to the end of this year's compaign, our Shoip Funds team has taken a close look at our inventory. As you know, movie tickets are a really good deal and have been a big seller this year. However, we are now down to about sixty tickets and will not be ordering any more till next year unless some of you would like to place large orders. If you would, please call Mrs. Paulyn ASAP and we'll order on your behalf.
*Please note: Shop Funds will be on sale at the usual time next Thursday, even though we have Student-Led Conferences that day.
STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES
The students have been busily preparing for their student-led conferences. They have wonderful achievements to share with you and are proud of their work. Please remember to be encouraging during the conference and let your child be in charge! It's 'student-led' after all!
Tomorrow you will receive your appointment time for your child's conference. The staff has tried their best to give you the time you requested. If you don't send back the form, we had no choice but to slot families in to the best of our ability.
SCHOOL UNIFORM NEWS
Last week I met with the owner of Neat Uniforms. We looked at all of the existing uniform items and I passed on your concerns to him. As a result, we will be going back to the original sweater which parents have told me wears much better. At this PC meeting, we made some decision that will affect the uniform for the 08-09 school year. These changes will be presented to parents at our annual Town Hall meeting and samples will be provided.
STUDENT PICK-UP
We have an ongoing problem at St. Andrew's with end-of-the-day pick up. Far too many of our students are left waiting for parents, sometimes for as long as an hour or more. It is our expectation that parents wait for their children to exit the school right at 3 o'clock. The children should all be off the school grounds by 3:15 at the latest. It is very dangerous for children to be left unattended. If you are a repeat offender, please take this reminder seriously and pick up your child promptly. I don't want to have to resort to charging parents for babysitting - yes, some of our schools do this!
Have a wonderful week.
With love,
Mrs. Mailley
