LET US PRAY
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful,
And kindle in them the fire of your love.
Let us pray that our Grade 7 class will be filled with the Spirit in the weeks ahead and for the rest of their lives, so that they can be God's messengers of love.
CONFIRMATION
Last night our Grade 7 students received the Sacrement of Confirmation from Archbishop Miller. The Mass wa beautiful and the hcildren were so happy. We are mot grateful to Mrs. Black and the intermediate choir fo their wonderful music which made the Mass so special. Parents, you should be very proud of your children. Archbishop Miller asked me after the Mass if our children were always this good!
* Please check the attached 'Thank You' page - we wanted the choir to know how much they are appreciated.
LITERACY WORKSHOP
We now have eighteen families registered for the very special workshop. Tomorrow I will be forwarding these numbers to our literacy consultant so that we can prepare for the workshop. I have attached another copy of the registration form to this newsletter in case there are parents who for some reason have not yet registered. However, I need you to send in your registration by tomorrow morning.
SPRING FAIR DONATIONS
Thanks to all of the parents who took the time and trouble to send in the $5 donation for their children. Your generosity has allowed the PPC to purchase some wonderful auction items for the Spring Fair. This year's auction will look a little different. We think you'll like the changes.
* Mrs. Gabat is still looking for parents to help out at the fair. If you still need hours, please call the office and have your name put on the list. We need lots of help as there are still several jobs waiting to be filled.
RAFFLE TICKETS
Parents, there are still many raffle ticket books that have not been returned. They were sent home several weeks ago, and Mrs. Top from the parish needs them back as soon as possible. If yours are still not in, please make this a priority. Every book must be accounted for, and I would appreciate not having to chase after students about this.
FOOD BANK UPDATE
The participation in this project has been amazing! So far, we have sent many, many bags of food to the SVDP store. The other day, they even sent their big van to pick up our donations, and the driver was so pleased that the children had given so much. Remember, it is our goal to keep this project going. The children have told me that they believe they can do this - one can or package a week is all that it takes for us to stock the shelves as the SVDP store. I'm going to call the B.C. Catholics and see if they'll do a feature article on this.
ST. ANDREW'S IDOL
Preparations are well underway for this exciting event. Next week, tickets will go on sale. The Student Council has decided on $5 for adult tickets and $3 for children's tickets. Even if your child is not performing, do plan to attend this event. It will be lots of fun and I'm sure you'll enjoy our many talented children. We will have a panel of judges and prizes for the winning performers. Please mark Wednesday, May 7th on your calendar - that's the big night!
*Tickets can be purchased at the office beginning Tuesday, April 15th.
SHOP FUNDS
Parents, this is yet another reminder about purchasing Shop Funds. I'm really trying to help you with this, as I don't want you to be left with a $100 expense in June that you could easily avoid if you buy Shop Funds regularly. Remember, you're not being asked to spend extra money, just to adjust your habits a little.
FYI - The last week of selling will be May 19th - 22nd. The week after that, we'll send home your final statement. If you haven't made the $100 requirement, you will be billed for the remaining balance.
WHAT DOES HEAVEN LOOK LIKE?
Here's what some of the kindergartens think:
Charmaine Arenzana
In Heaven there are trees, Mama Mary, Jesus and a butterfly.
Emily Chang
In heaven there is a tree with fruits, a butterfly, sun and dark clouds, birda and flowers and grass.
Xavier Kuehn
In heaven there is the Holy Spirit, planets, Earth and clouds.
Francis Tabag
In heaven there is Jesus' barn.
Joseph Tingcang
In heaven, there is the sun, the sky, the cross, a tree, vegetables, a sign, roots and a worm.
The pictures to go with these very interesting points of view are on the wall outside the kindergarten room. Have a look if you get the chance. They're priceless!
Have a wonderful week.
With much love,
Mrs. Mailley
