LET US PRAY
All powerful God,
By the suffering and death of your Son,
Strengthen and protect us in our weakness.
We ask this through Our Lord
Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives
And reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
Amen
SAS FOOD BANK
Our first week of the food bank was a huge success! When I delivered the food to the SVDP store on Friday night, the ladies were just thrilled. On Tuesday, the lady who first wrote to us for help actually came to the school in person to thank the children. It’s so important for the children see that their kindness really does make a difference in people’s lives. Yesterday, we came up with a new name for our project. From now on, we’re going to call it CAN DO. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. The challenge now is to keep it going! I know I can count on you to support this important project. Many people are counting on us, and the food bank shelves are empty.
LITERACY WORKSHOP
Last week I sent home information and registration forms for our April 23rd literacy workshop. So far, very few people have responded, and yet when I did the survey, huge numbers of parents said they were interested in attending. I assume that many of you have just not got around to sending back the form. Please do not leave this till the last minute. We need to know right away how many will be coming so that we can prepare properly. Extra registration forms are available at the office.
*Please note that this workshop will begin at 7 p.m. This information was omitted from the registration form.
SPRING FAIR CORRECTION NOTICE
Last week in the newsletter I appealed for a $5 donation from each family. This should have read ‘from each child’. I sincerely apologize for the error, and I ask that you kindly send the rest of the donation if you have other children in the school. The PPC will do the shopping and wrapping for the silent auction and raffle prizes.
* A reminder to parents who are planning to help out at the Spring Fair: there will be a meeting on Monday, March 17th.
CHILD FIND B.C.
At this year’s Spring Fair, there will be representatives from the above organization. You will have the opportunity to have your child fingerprinted and learn more about what Child Find offers. I’ll put a pamphlet on the bulleting board if you’d like to know more about it.
WORK BEE
We had to cancel the May 3rd work bee as it conflicts with First Communion and affects many of our regular team. Please check the newsletter in the next couple of weeks for the revised date.
ST. ANDREW’S IDOL!
There’s great excitement at St. Andrew’s these days! Primary and intermediate auditions were scheduled for today and tomorrow. I explained to the children yesterday that an audition is the same as a try out, and now everyone will make it to the final. I know that no matter how I explain it, there will still be some hurt hearts! Those students who make it to the finals will be part of an evening concert on May 7th, at which time a panel of judges will select the grand prize winners. All the money raised from ticket sales will go towards purchasing school supplies for children in Sierra Leone.
SHOP FUNDS
Next week you will receive your Shop Funds statement for one year to date. Mrs. Paulyn and I have noticed that some families have done little or no purchasing, and that’s a shame, because this fundraiser is so easy and doesn’t cost you any extra money. You can even send your order from home --- you don’t have to come to the school, nor do you have to wait for your order. Please remember that if you don’t participate in the program, it will end up costing you $100.
SEXUALITY GUIDELINES BOOKLETS
Those parents who attended the recent meeting with Chuck Luttrell will be pleased to know that we now have the booklets in the school. If you would like to have one, just come to the office. The cost is just $3 per booklet. We only have fifteen, so act fast!
CONFIRMATION MEETING
This is a reminder to Grade 7 parents that this very important meeting will take place this coming Tuesday, March 11th @ 7:30 p.m. following the 7 p.m. Mass.
Have a wonderful week.
With love,
Mrs. Mailley
