LET US PRAY

Let us ask God for the strength we need
to live as His holy people.

God our Father,
You have called us to be your beloved people;

You have rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and sin.

You have brought us into the kingdom of light.

Help us to continue to live in your light
During this holy season of Lent so that we may always live for you.

Father, we ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen

POETRY CONTEST

Last week I published the names of the poetry contest winners. This week I have attached a page containing all of these very special poems. Enjoy!

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK CONTEST WINNERS

The children had fun with the staff baby picture competition. Believe it or not, the winning students managed to get just eight out of fifteen correct. Well done Maria Alabazo, Maryanne Alabzo and Kenneth Magno!

SPEECH ARTS

This year’s Archbishop Carney Speech Arts Festival has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th and Wednesday, April 16th. Several teachers will be taking their whole class to either I.C. Vancouver or OLPH. Please watch for further details in the weeks ahead.

WORK BEE

Our February work was a great success, thanks to our ‘regulars’ who work under the direction of our fabulous coordinator, Anu Kainth! The next work bee has been scheduled for March 1st. Parents, please note that only those parents who attend every session will be considered as meeting their participation requirement. Parents who come once in a while need to complete their fifty hours.

*Just a reminder that we do not permit children to come to the work bees.

SKIING PROGRAM

Every year our Grade 6 & 7 students have the opportunity to go skiing or snowboarding at Cypress Mountain. Without the dedication and commitment of staff and parents, this program would not possible. To Mr. T. and his team of teachers, Miss Ignacio, Miss Resendes and Miss Tupchong, thank you so much for making sure our precious children were safe. To the following parents who gave up their time so willingly to help supervise the children, we are so very grateful:

Mr. & Mrs. Fournier
Mr. Kane
Mr. Dogra
Mrs. Kolasa
Mr. Bautista

GRADE 2 PARENT MEETING

Our next Grade 2 parent meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 28th. Parents, please note that the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

SEXUALTIY GUIDELINES MEETING

This week we sent home letters to parents of the Grade 4,5 and 6 students regarding the presentation of Mr. Chuck Luttrell. Please make sure that you return the tear-off portion of the form and return it as soon as possible. We strongly encourage you to attend this important meeting. This year, it will be held in our church basement.

KINDERGARTEN INTERVIEWS

This weekend we will be interviewing families new to St. Andrew’s. We’re hoping that we now have applications for all of our new kindergartens who are siblings. If not, we need to see you right away! We only have a few spots left. Also, if you know of anyone who has yet to register, please tell them that spots are filling up quickly.

REGISTRATION FOR 08-09

Registration packages will be sent out very soon. Please help us out by returning your package as soon as possible. If you have any questions about your package, please do not hesitate to call the office. Mrs. Reyno will be glad to help you.

SECOND TERM REPORTS

The teachers are working hard on assessments and evaluations at this time. The reports for term two will be sent home on March 20th, the last day of term.

Have a wonderful week.

With Love,

Mrs. Mailley
