LET US PRAY

God, Father and Creator,
We thank you for all the gifts
You have given us,
Especially the gift of your Son.
During this holy season of Lent,
Help us to change and grow
And become the kind of people
You created us to be.
Fill our hearts with love for you
And love for other people
Created in your image.
Show us how to use the gifts
You have given us
To help others in your name.
As we journey together
Toward the light of Easter,
We know you are with us
In all that we do.
May we live always
As people of your kingdom
Praising, your name forever.
Amen

THE HOLY SEASON OF LENT

Yesterday, our school community attended Ash Wednesday Mass. This of course marked the beginning of Lent, and during his homily, Father Hien reminded the children that we are called to pray, sacrifice and give alms. Many of our students have planned special things to do throughout Lent. We pray that this will be a holy time for all of us so that we will be well prepared to celebrate the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday.

"A LITTLE NIGHT OF MUSIC"

Tickets are beginning to go quickly for our upcoming concert to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. If you have not yet bought your tickets, you may either come in to the office or send in an order form (see attached). Our choirs have worked hard under the direction of Mess Resendes and Mrs. Black and I know you will enjoy the variety of music and dance we've planned for you.

SKATING - DATE CHANGE!!

We have had to reschedule the Grade 2-5 skating program. Please make a note of the new dates:

Wednesday, April 2nd
Wednesday, April 9th
Wednesday, April 16th

Each class will have three sessions at Sunset Arena. Thanks to the parents who have already called and offered to help with lace tying. We still need lots more help. Please call the office and ask Mrs. Reyno to add your name to the list if you can help. Permission forms will be sent home a few weeks before the first session.

SPRING FAIR

This year, we are hoping that lots of parents who are still looking for hours will attend the next Spring Fair meeting on Monday, February 18th. We are checking our lists for those families who are still low on hours, so within the next couple of weeks, some of you may receive a phone call from one of the PPC to invite you to attend the meeting. This is a great opportunity to get involved in this community event as well as earn some extra hours. Please mark the meeting date on your calendar.

VALENTINE CRAFTS

The PPC has planed a valentine Crafts day for this coming Monday, February 11th. Please note that this event is for primary students only. Following 3 o’clock dismissal, the primary students will assemble downstairs in the main hallway where they will be organized by grade. They will then rotate through each activity. The PPC would greatly appreciate help from parents who are planning on attending.

MITE BOXES

Yesterday at the end of hymn practice, we distributed the mite boxes. The children are encouraged to keep their boxes in a prominent spot at home so that throughout Lent, they can invite family and friends to help them fill their box with loose change. Your support and encouragement is appreciated. Mite boxes should be brought back to school during Holy Week, March 17th – 20th.

INCOME TAX RECEIPTS REMINDER

The income tax receipts were sent home last week. If for any reason you did not receive yours, please call the office immediately.

SHOP FUNDS JANUARY WINNER

As you know, each month we pick a name from all of the families who have purchased Shop Funds. M Congratulations to the Nadeau family who win a $25 gift card for SportCheck.

UNIFORM LETTERS

We’re on a mission to make sure that our students wear their uniform with pride and respect, including school shoes and sweaters. Parents, please make a point of checking your child’s sweater for holes and/or unraveling. Honestly, a few of our students are wearing sweaters that really belong in the garbage! If you receive a letter regarding school uniform, it means that your child has had several reminders from his/her teacher and nothing has changed. Please work with us to ensure that our children dress appropriately for school.

FIRST CONFESSIONS

A reminder to Grade 2 parents that First Confessions will take place on Saturday, February 16th at 10 a.m.

ST. PAT’S OPEN HOUSE

This is scheduled for Sunday, February 10th from 1 – 4 p.m.

Have a wonderful week.

With love,

Mrs. Mailley
