LET US PRAY

May the Redeemer come and open our
intelligence to understand His teachings.
May the Redeemer come and teach us
His virtues and the road He walked,
because He alone is the Way; there is no
other path that leads to salvation.
May the Redeemer come and bring us
His graces; that is, a more profound
holiness, deeper wisdom, greater
charity, a sweetness and meekness in
all our actions.

May Jesus come and, above all, bring to
our souls that grace, those divine gifts,
that will make us grow in His friendship,
so that one day we may enjoy it in heaven.

SINGING AT THE MALL!

Today, our intermediate choir sang at Oakridge Mall. We were very proud of all of them. Special thanks to Mrs. Black and the choir for all their hard work. They did us proud!

SINGING AT THE MALL!

On Thursday, December 13th, our intermediate choir will be singing at Oakridge Centre @ 11 a.m. Come on out and be part of the audience!

SISTERS OF ATONEMENT PROJECT

In case you’ve forgotten, here are the donation items by class:

Kinder. – soap, Grade 1 – toothpaste
Grade 2 – socks, Grade 3 – combs & brushes
Grade 4 – razors, Grade 5 – shampoo
Grade 6 – toothbrushes, Grade 7 – deodorant
Parents – used jeans in good condition

So far we haven’t received any jeans from our parents. Come on, moms and dads – show us what you can do! The deadline for donations is Wednesday, December 19th.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

As you know, our school has a very specific uniform policy. Lately, more and more of our students have been “bending the rules” when it comes to wearing their uniforms. It’s now reached the point where I feel I have to provide a copy of our uniform policy for all families. Beginning the first week of term two, a note will be sent home each time a student is not in full uniform. It is very important that the policy be respected.

Please read the attached policy carefully, then sign and return the bottom portion.

LIBRARY NEWS

Our new library is growing stronger every week. We now have over 7,000 books available for the children. The best news is, the children are taking out lots of books! Thank you to our parents who have helped us achieve this. We still have some time slots for parent helpers on Thursday. If you would like to be a Thursday Library Helper, please call Ruth Fernandez at 604 777 4065.

Kindergarten to Grade 4 students need to return their books before December 21st. Grade 5, 6 & 7 students involved in the “Readers are Leaders” program will be allowed to keep books out over the Christmas holidays.

PARENT SUPERVISION

Our coordinator, Dorris Mendoza, will be in the Philippines for the first three weeks of January. Jing Pacania will be in charge of the program until Dorris returns. If you are on the supervision team and need to contact Jing, her number is 604 321 9704.

Mrs. Mendoza would like to thank her team for the great work they’ve done this term and wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

WORK BEE

Our last work bee of this term will take place on Saturday, December 15th. Parents, please note that if you are on the regular work bee tem, you are expected to be at the school by 9 a.m.

FAMILIES

Yesterday, our students met with their ‘family’ members. The theme of the meeting was compassion, and they learned yesterday that at the Food Bank, there are never enough donations for babies. They need pablum, formula, jars of baby food and diapers. The students were encouraged to bring at least one item that we could put in our “Basics for Babies” basket. Your help with this project would be greatly appreciated.

My Dear Parents, I know that we’ve asked for a great deal of help from you in this season of Advent, but as St. Francis tells us, “It is in giving that we receive” Thank you for helping us to teach our children about compassion and service. Your children are generous and kind because you have taught them well. I am most grateful to all of you, not only for your donations, but also for your sincerity and your kind hearts. May God bless all of you.

With love,

Mrs. Mailley
