LET US PRAY

Loving God,
We give you thanks for the blessings of this holy Advent season.
You are the source of life, of hope,
And of all good things.

We look forward to the coming of the light of Christ at Christmas.
Help us to turn toward that light in our lives.

We rejoice at the gift of your Son
Who taught us to love in your name.
May we be the people of peace and justice
All the days of our lives.

Your kingdom come and your will be done now and forever,
Amen

PRIMARY CHRISTMAS PLAY

Tickets are going fast and furious for this very special event. Please make sure that you don’t leave your ticket order to the last minute or you’re sure to be disappointed. Tickets are $2 each and all of the funds raised will be donated to Covenant House on your behalf.

PARISH FEAST DAY THANKS

We owe a huge thank you to all of our parents who contributed to the parish feast day in so many ways, including donating prizes, setting up and cleaning up, and a special thanks to Dorris Mendoza for doing a great job on the door prize tickets. To all of you – your contributions were very much appreciated.

SHOP FUNDS DEADLINE

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day for ordering from the special Christmas order form. If you’ve misplaced our form and would like to order, please pick up a form at the office. The winner of the November prize for purchasers of Shop Funds is the D’Rozario family (Mike and Mario). Congratulations! You win a $20 certificate for Shell.

We will draw the winner of the Christmas campaign on the last week of school. The ;prize is a $50 Safeway certificate. I think that would cover the cost of a nice big turkey!

SINGING AT THE MALL!

On Thursday, December 13th, our intermediate choir will be singing at Oakridge Centre @ 11 a.m. Come on out and be part of the audience!

Grade 4 – razors, Grade 5 – shampoo
Grade 6 – toothbrushes, Grade 7 – deodorant

STUDENT COUNCIL BAKE SALE

The Student Council raised almost $160 last week with help from some of their classmates. This bake sale was a huge success, so don’t be surprised if there’s another one later this year! Special thanks to the parents who readily lent a helping hand.

REPORT CARDS – THE DOS AND THE DON’TS!

You will receive your child’s report card tomorrow.

Do take the time to read the report with your child and to notice all of the good things the teacher had to say.
Do talk about suggestions or recommendations made by the teacher.
Do try to make this a worthwhile experience for your child – be encouraging and positive.
Don’t get stuck on the grades and ignore everything else.
Don’t compare your child’s report with another child’s – each child is different and unique.

* If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s report be sure to contact the teacher directly and if necessary, arrange a time to discuss it.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

If you are still waiting for uniform items from Neat Uniforms, please contact me right away so that I can call the owner of the company on your behalf.

ADVENT PRAYERS

Here are some examples of Advent prayers written by the Grade 6 class:

A PRECIOUS SON

Dear God,
When your Precious Son became a baby
in a stable of simplicity, you changed our world.
As I think of that magnificent time, I join
with the Shepherds and Wise Men
In wonder and praise.
I thank you so much for bringing your
precious Son into the world.

DECEMBER

Dear Jesus,

This month I pray for all the poor and
homeless people who have no food or
shelter. I asked that you may bless
them during this cold weather.
Through your love may they find peace,
strength and comfort.
Thank you for all you have given me.

Amen

Enjoy this special time of year as we “wait in joyful hope”.
