LET US PRAY

Remember, when things get tough, just take it one day at a time, praying and working. When things get really tough just take it one hour at t a time, being friendly to those around you and doing what you have to do. And when things get really, really tough, just take life moment by moment.

Do the best you can and leave the rest to God. We have to give him our “five loaves and two fishes”. Then He will work the miracle and feed the “five thousand”. Grace builds on nature and so we have to do our bit.

VOLLEYBALL UPDATE

Volleyball season ended yesterday with the finals being played at Notre Dame High School. All six of our teams worked very hard and all three of the boys’ teams made it to the finals Congratulations to the players and coaches for a great season, and to the boys who played in the finals yesterday. They came home with two golds and a silver.

Bravo to all of you!

SATURDAY WORK BEE

Thanks to the great team of parents who have faithfully attended every work bee so far. The next work bee is scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 24th @ 9 a.m.

PARISH FEAST DAY

We have now sold out of tickets for the parish feast day. If you’re planning on attending, we can order them for you. Please see Mrs. Reyno and she’ll help you with this.

*If your child is singing in the choir for this occasion and you’re not planning to stay for dinner, please note that you will be given a special ticket that will allow you into the gym to hear the performance.

CANDY CANE CAMPAIGN

Our Walking Club has come up with a wonderful idea to raise some money for the Christmas bureau. (This is an organization that distributes gifts to needy children). Each student is asked to bring 25 cents (or more!) Each day from December 3rd to December 12th, candy canes will be distributed randomly to the students, so they never know when their turn is coming! The Walking Club wants to make this a fun activity but also involve the other students in this important outreach opportunity. Please remind your child to bring in their 25 cents as soon as possible.

SHOP FUNDS NEWS

We’ve decided to extend the deadline for the Christmas orders to give more parents the chance to order. The new deadline is December 7th. Please remember to use the large pink sheets for your Christmas order.

Our Cineplex packages have been a best seller! At this point, we only have four packages left.

SPRING FAIR PARTICIPATION

This year we need lots of help from parents. There will be a special information meeting for interested parents on Thursday, December 4th at 7 p.m. in the school. This is a great opportunity for lots of hours, so come out to the meeting and be part of the Spring Fair team.

SISTERS OF ATONEMENT PROJECT

This is the time of year when we plan our campaign to support the Sisters of Atonement with the wonderful work they do for the homeless. It is the tradition at St. Andrew’s that each teacher chooses an item from the list provided. The children then make a collection of that particular item. The week before the Christmas holidays, I’ll deliver the items to the Sisters with help from the Student Council.

PRIMARY CHRISTMAS PLAY

The dates for the Christmas play performance are:

Wednesday, December 19 (1 p.m.)
Thursday, December 20th (7 p.m.)

If you are unable to attend the evening performance due to the work commitments, you are most welcome to come to the matinee on Wednesday. Next week, tickets will go on sale. They are $2 each and all money collected will be given to Covenant House.

FEAST DAY HOLIDAY REMINDER

Our feast day holiday this year will be this coming Monday, November 26th. There will be no classes for staff and students.

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS

The actual feast day of St. Andrew is November 30th. The Student Council has planned a bake sale to celebrate. The cost of the treats is 50 cents each. The students have named this event “Sweet Support for Covenant House” as they would like all funds raised to go towards this worthy cause.

WRAPPING UP FOR WINTER

As you know, the weather has been very chilly lately, and believe it or not, we see many students arriving at school with no jacket, hat or gloves. Please check that your child is dressed for the weather. If they arrive at school early, it’s a long, cold wait for them!

On days when it’s raining heavily, we bring the children in at 8:20 a.m. as this is when our supervisors arrive.

Have a wonderful week,

With love,

Mrs. Mailley
