LET US PRAY
Blessed Be God
Blessed be God in the dark and the light,
In trouble and joy, sorrow and delight.
Blessed be God for still centre in the storm,
Blessed be God for relief in pain,
Blessed be God in the refugee camp,
Blessed be God in the aid worker's strife.
Blessed be God in the man in the street
Lying in a shop doorway out of the rain.
Blessed be God in the woman at the corner,
plying her trade as life is so hard,
Blessed be God who creates and who saves,
Who corrects and leads on to the ultimate good
Of a kingdom where all will find room
And the dark and the light will be one.
SATURDAY WORK BEE
Our next work bee is scheduled for this Saturday, November 3rd @ 9 a.m. It is very important that team members call Anu Kainth and let her know youre planning to attend. That way, we can organize the morning efficiently.
(Anu can be reached at 604 307 3880)
* Please note that you are welcome to be part of the work bee even if you haven't come before.
PARENT SURVEY
As you know, we conducted a short survey about the allociation of funds raised and also the interest in having a literacy evening. 73% of our families responded to the survey. As promised, here are the survey results:
∙ Playground decor - 50%
∙ Upgrade kitchen - 35%
∙ School logo on gym walls and floors - 15%
Survey B - Parents interested in attending our literacy evening in the spring - 80%
Thank you so much for your feedback. The survey results will be brought to the next PEC meeting on November 20th.
BOOK FAIR
We are proud to announce that the grand total of purchases at the book fair was $3,154.25. This means that the school was able to select books for the library to the value of $1,838.76, about four hundred new books! Well done students, parents and staff. We are most grateful to all who helped make this event such a success.
GOSPEL BANK PERFORMANCE
So far we have not sold many tickets for this performance. Those of you who were at the 10 a.m. or noon Mass last weekend would have had the opportunity to hear the band's wonderful music. A few of our own students will also be part of the performance. Tickets are available at the school office.
LOST AND FOUND
This is just a reminder that the Lost and Found is cleared out each week. Please remind your child to check for lost items.
SHOP FUNDS - EXCITING NEWS!
Today you will be receiving your Christmas order form. As you can see, there are many choices. This is a great opportunity to get a jumpstart on Christmas shopping.
All orders must be in by November 30th no later than 9 a.m. as they will be getting processed that day.
HALLOWE'EN
Oh what fun we had yesterday! The school was full of excited children in an amazing variety of costumes. I've never seen so many parents in the school. We are most grateful to all who helped make the day a success.
Special thanks:
∙ To Mr. Monay who went out and bought all those pumpkins. The children had such fun decorating them
∙ To the Chen family who provided delicious Hallowe'en cookies at a very low cost.
∙ To the parents who helped out at the craft stations
∙ To our amazing Grade 7 students who created and ran the stations in the carnival
Bravo to all of you! Your dedication to the school is greatly appreciated. The children had a blast!
SUPERVISION
We still need a couple of parents for the 10:20 - 11:30 time slots. Please contact Mrs. Mendoza right away if you can help. (604-301-1610)
KEYS FOUND
We have a set of keys at the office that someone must be desperately trying to find. On the key chain there's the initial "N", and tags for Save on Foods and M & M Meats. Please give Mrs. Reyno a call if the keys are yours.
HELP WANTED
We have two families who desperately need help getting their children to school. Please check the bulletin board for details and let us know if you can help. The pick up area is the 1100 block of 49th Avenue. If you could find it in your heart to help, the families would be most grateful. Mrs. Reyno and I would love to hear from you.
A WARM WELCOME
This week we welcome the Bate and Ragutero families to the St. Andrew's community. Our new students are both in the Grade 5 class. Welcome Frances and Jovanne! We love you already and hope that you will be very happy in your new school.
Have a wonderful week,
With love,
Mrs. Mailley
