LET US PRAY
Here are some more Grade 6 prayers:
Dear Lord,
I pray that this month will be a great month for everyone. Everyone in my class worked hard last month and I hope that this month will be the same or even better. I also pray for my grades so that I am able to keep doing good. I hope this month will be good, especially because our school has done the Living Rosary.

Dear God and Mary,
I really enjoyed praying the Living Rosary. I can't wait for Hallowe'en and I ask that whereever I am, I will be secured from sin and I will be able to feel your presence. I want to say that I am thankful to you for giving me a family and letting me be alive, and for your wonderful creation.

SATURDAY WORK BEE
We are very grateful to the committed team of parents who came out for last Saturday's work bee. Under the direction of Anu Kainth, this great group of parents worked wonders in the classrooms. We originally planned to have the work bees once a month, but we've now changed this to every three weeks. Therefore, the work bee will be on Saturday, November 3rd, 2007 @ 9 a.m.
SHOP FUNDS - IMPORTANT CHANGE!!!
Due to the number of Friday's that we've been unable to sell Shop Funds( Pro D days, Good Friday, Walkathon, Fun Day) we've decided to move our in-school selling day to THURSDAYS. Our first Thursday selling day will be next week, October 25th. We hope that this new system will work well for all of our families.
WORKING TOGETHER TOWARDS LITERACY
Please make sure that you fill out the literacy survey form by the office today. We'd like to plan for a literacy evening and need to know how many people would be interested.
BOOK FAIR
Mrs. Green is still looking for parents to help out with next week's book fair. Please see the schedule on the display board in the main foyer of the school. This is a good opportunity for parent's to do some early Christmas shopping. Mrs. Green will have a teachers' wish list set up in the library so that if parents wish, they can purchase a book for their child's classroom.
NEAT UNIFORMS
I have passed along your concerns about the quality of the school sweaters and we are looking at a better option. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are making every effort to iron out the problems. If you have any immediate concerns regarding uniforms, please come and seeme right away.
GOSPEL BAND PERFORMANCE
St. Andrew's Parish is hosting a performance by the Flames Beyond Glory Gospel Band on Saturday evening, November 24th in the gym. Tickets are $12 each and they can be purchased at the school office. Come out and bring the family to support Father Hien.
SCHOOL PHONE
We are finding that more and more of the students are coming to the office to use the phone at various times of the day for such things as forgotten homework or team uniforms, checking to see who's picking them up, and even wake up calls to parents! I've asked staff to allow the use of the phone only in case of emergencies or serious problems. If your child is sick or injured, Mrs. Reyno will call you at home or at work. This is why it is so important that we have up-to-date contact information.
PRO D DAY
Our next Pro D day is scheduled for next Friday. The staff will be at St. Joseph's School working on literacy strategies along with staff from some of our other Catholic schools.
HALLOWE'EN FUN AT ST. ANDREW'S
Our children look forward to our annual Hallowe'en parade on October 31th. Classes in the morning will follow the regular schedule. In the afternoon, the parade will take place in the gym for all of the students. After the parade, the intermediate students will stay in the gym for their carnival and the primary students will return back to the school for their Hallowe'en crafts. The PPC will work with the primary teachers on this project.
With regard to costumes, please make sure that the costume your child brings to school does not include weapons of any kind. I'll remind the children about this at next week's assembly. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
HOT LUNCH - DAY CHANGE
The PPC has decided to change the Hot Lunch day form MOnday to Wednesday as it works better for some parents who are on the Hot Lunch team. We'll still have the lunches every second week. Please note that the Hot Lunch planned for October 29th will now take place on October 31st.
CHECK OUT THE LIBRARY!
If you haven't yet seen our library, please feel free to drop by today. You'll love it! Mrs. Green and Mrs. Jaeggle have done a fantastic job and have created a warm, welcoming environment. We're so blessed to have them.
Have a wonderful week,
With love,
Mrs. Mailley
