LET US PRAY

God knows.....

Prayers from Around the World

O Lord Jesus,
Stretch forth thy wounded hands
In blesing over thy people,
To heal and to restore,
And to draw them to thyself
And to one another in love
(Middle East)

Pease of the running waves to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you,
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you,
Deep peace of the shining stars to you,
Deep peace of the shades of night to you,
Moon and stars always giving light to you,
Deep peace of Christ, the Son of Peace to you.
(Scotland)

Enjoy the earth gently,
For if the earth is spoiled, it cannot be repaired.
Enjoy the earth gently
(Yoruba prayer, Ivory Coast)

Perhaps your family could read these special prayers together each week throughout the school year as we focus on our theme, "LET US PRAY".

ALTAR SERVERS MEETING

This is the time of year when students are invited to become altar servers and to undergo a training session by Father Joseph. I have passed on Father's invitation to all Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 students. There will be a special meeting for all altar servers, experienced and new, this Sunday, September 23rd, at 2 p.m. This is a very beautiful way for children to serve in our Faith. Please discuss this with your son or daughter. We look forward to a great turnout on Sunday.

SATURDAY WORK BEE

This Saturday, September 22nd, is our first regular monthly work bee of this school year. Please make sure that you call the school and have your name put on the list. The work bee will begin at 9:a.m. and should end by noon. Our coordinator for this year is Anu Kainth, mother of Ryan in Grade 5.

PARENT PARTICIPATION IN THE LIBRARY

There are still some spots we need to fill in the library. If interested, please give Ruth Fernandez a call at 604 777 4065.

SUPERVISION

Mrs. Mendoza and I were very happy with the great attendance at last Saturday's meeting for parent supervisors. We had more than thirty parents at the school and all of us had the chance to go over our new policy. Our supervision program is the strongest it has ever been thanks to many dedicated parents and Mrs. Mendoza's leadership.

Parents, please note that your assigned area is on the schedule beside your name. If you're unsure of your area, just check in at the office and we'll help your out. Your children are so proud that you're helping out in the school! BRAVO!

SHOP FUNDS

We though you would like to know that our Shop Funds program got off to a flying start last week. Our total sales were over $14,000. Thanks to all who made the effort to begin purchasing right away. I'm so impressed. Remember that all funds raised go directly towards special programs and purchases for the childre. Prease note that we will no longer send home order forms each week. We have lots at the office if you need one.

SURVEY

Tomorrow you'll be receiving a short survey regarding our fund raising. We need input from all of our families so that we can make good decisions. Please make sure that you take a moment to fill out the survey and send it back to school ASAP. Thanks for your cooperation.

NEAT UNIFORMS

As many of you know, lots of uniform items are still on back order. I contacted one of the owners last week and she's coming to the school next week so that we can discuss the problems in detail. Hopefully this will not happen in the future. To all of our families who have been waiting for a long time, thank you for your patience. Mrs. Reyno and I have a copy of the back order list so that we can check off items as they come in.

HELP WANTED

Miss Resendes is looking for help with a sewing project for her classroom. She needs a class set of chair-back book holders. If you are able to help and are good at sewing, she would love to hear from you. Fabric will be provided.

KEEPING OUR SCHOOL SAFE, CLEAN AND BRIGHT

Our Grade 5 class, for the third year running, will be our S.A.G.A. team this year. This is our special name for the peer mediation teams in Grade 6 who are trained to support the younger children in the playground by keeping a close watch on them and stepping in to help when there is a problem or a disagreement. I am proud to say that each and every student in Grade 6 has made the commitment to be part of the S.A.G.A. team. (If you don't know what this stands for, ask any of the children!).

I've attached a list of these great students who have shown such strong leadership and pride in their school.

Have a great week.

With love,

Mrs. Mailley
