LET US PRAY

God knows.....

When you are tired and discouraged from fruitless effort
God knows how hard you have tried
When you've cried so long your heart is in anguish
God has counted your tears
If you feel that your life is on hold and time has passed you by
God is waiting for you
When nothing makes sense and you are confused or frustrated
God has the answer
If suddenly your outlook is brighter and you traces if hope
God has whispered to you
When things are going well and you have much to be thankful for
God has blessed you
When something yoyful happens and you are filled with awe
God has smiled upon you
Remember that whenever you are or whatever you are feeling.
God knows.

MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT

As you know, our annual Meet the Teacher Night took place on Monday night. Parents who attended were given lots of information and has the chance to meet the PEC, PPC, supervision coordinator and Shop Funds coordinator before heading over to the school to the classrooms. While the evening went ver well, it was a great disappointment to me that so many parents did not attend. I understand that in some cases, parents had work commitments, but there were many other parents who just didn't come. Here are the percentage attendances for each grade:

KINDERGARTEN: 82%
GRADE 1: 64%
GRADE 2: 64%
GRADE 3: 62%
GRADE 4: 69%
GRADE 5: 74%
GRADE 6 50%
GRADE 7: 56%

Parents, I know we can do much better than this. What message are you giving your children if you don't bother to attend special school meetings? Those parents who did not attend will receive a letter this week.

EMERGENCY APPEAL!!!!

We're looking for people to be part of the work crew for the new playground installation. If you can help, please call Precy Aguirre immediately at:

SHOP FUNDS

Thanks to thos parents who have already begun ordering Shop Funds. We're off to a great start. This year, there will be draw every month. Every family who participates in the Shop Funds program will have their name entered. The draw will take place at the end of the month. Remember, the more money that's raised, the more we can do for the children. To the parents who ordered Safeway cards, please accept our apology; Safeway cards are not available till October 1st.

SURVEY

At PEC and PPC meetings, we've had some discussion about our fu8nd raising money and where it should be spent. Next week I'll be sending home a short survey to ask your opinion so that we can make the best decision with your input in mind. Please take a few moments to fill out the survey and make a point of returning it to the school.

VERY IMPORTANT REMINDERS

· Students must bring their lunch to school each day unless they're going home, in which case a note must be provided. Parents, please do not bring take-out lunches to school for your child.

· On Hot Lunch days, students who did not order or who missed the deadline for ordering must bring their lunch from home as usual - please, no 'special deliveries'.

· The school phone may only be used in emergencies or if practices have to be cancelled at the last minute - it is not for students to make arrangements for play dates.

FAMILY NUMBERS

We have assigned a number to each family as a way of ensuring that families are credited with their hours and that we credit Shop Funds purchases accurately. Please check this week's newsletter - your number has been written on the top right hand corner. This number will match the one on your participation record sheet. Also please enter your family number on your Shop Funds order form each time you place an order. We're working hard to eliminate errors in our record keeping.

Have a wonderful week and enjoy this beautiful fall weather.

With love,

Mrs. Mailley
