LET US PRAY

Our theme for this year is "Let Us Pray". Throughout the year, the St.
Andrew's school community will explore the many ways we can pray.
Each week, I will publish a specially chosen prayer in this section of the
newsletter. Here is this week's prayer:

TEACH ME TO PRAY

Loving God, teach me to pray.
Teach me to lift my mind and heart to you to converse with you, to
allow a meeting of our two loves.
Help me to be honest in my prayer, expressing to you my deepest needs
and destress.
Help me to keep showing up for prayer even when I think my prayer is
inferior, difficult or boring.
Keep reminding me that any place is a good place to converse with you.
God, I thank you for the times my prayer has been consoling, and for
the times it has been disturbing -
those times you have invited me to change my mind, my attitude, my
plans.
And may I always remember that I pray not to get results, but to love
you and to become the person
you are calling me to become, step by baby step.
Amen.

The Tabag family
The Tingcang family
The Veloso family

Welcome aboard! We're so happy you're here!

FIRST SCHOOL MASS

This coming Friday, September 7th, will be our first school Mass for
this year. Parents and friends are most welcome to join us for this
special occasion. Our Grade 7 class will prepare the readings and the
banner as we celebrate our theme, "Let Us Pray".

MEET THE TEACHER NIGHT

Please see the attached flyer for details about this important annual
event. It is my hope (and expectation!) that every family be
represented next Monday night. We have many new things that all of our families
need to know in order for the coming year to run smoothly.

COMMISSIONING SUNDAY

This special Mass will take place on Sunday, September 16th at 10
o'clock. All of the staff and parishioners involved in catechesis will be
introduced and will receive a special blessing from Father Joseph.

SUPERVISION

This year, Mrs. Dorris Mendoza has kindly agreed to be the Supervision
Coordinator. I am sure that under her direction, our supervision will
run much more efficiently than in the past. More than forty of our
parents are now on the regular schedule.

However, we are still in need of people for the following time slots:
Monday to Friday, 8:20 - 8:50
Monday and Friday, 10:20 - 11:20

If you are interested in being part of this great team of parents, please call
Mrs. Mendoza immediately at 604 301 1610.

SHOP FUNDS

I am very pleased to announce that our Shop Funds coordinator for this
year will be Mrs. Ruth Fernandes. Ruth is most enthusiastic about her
new position and looks forward to working closely with her Shop Funds
team and with all of the parents. Regular purchasing will begin next
week. I will send out a letter to the Shop Funds team tomorrow.

EARLY WEDNESDAYS

Just a reminder that every Wednesday is an early dismissal day.
Yesterday, we had many children at the school long after pick-up time.
Please help us out by picking your children up promptly at 2:30. Yesterday,
we had a large number of students waiting at the office well after 3
o'clock.

WEEKDAY MASSES

Each classroom teacher has selected a specific day for going to Mass
with his or her class. Please check the monthly calendar for your
child's special day. I know I can count on all of you to make this a
priority at home.

DROP-OFF POLICY

An important reminder to all of our parents - please note that when
dropping your children off on 47th Avenue, you must GO EAST. We need to
respect our neighbours, so our one-way system must be observed. Thank
you for cooperating with us to help our morning and afternoon pick-up
times go smoothly.

A REMINDER

Every morning our staff meets for prayer in the staff room. If you
need to see a member of staff, please keep this in mind. Our prayer
usually ends about 8:40.

MONTHLY CALENDAR

Please keep the attached calendar for your records. If there are any
changes, I will keep you informed in the newsletter.

AND FINALLY . . . . . .

As we begin this new school year, it is my sincere hope that all of us,
children, parents and staff, will grow together in our Faith and that
all we do will reflect our love for each other and for those in need.

Please know that my door is always open if you have a concern or a
question. Don't hesitate to contact me at any time. At St. Andrew's
school, the children are the top priority. With Christ at the heart of our
community, I know we will achieve great things.

With much love,

Mrs. Mailley
